As a fully electric sub-brand of GMC, Hummer, General Motors’ gas-guzzling SUV brand, will come back in 2022 after being canceled in 2010. This new Hummer will first arrive as a pick-up truck, then as a sport utility vehicle (SUV). Up to 1000 horsepower from the new pickup’s highest engine option, which employs three electric motors, delivers an estimated range of 329 miles per charge and leaps to 60mph in a reported 3.0 seconds.
With removable top panels, adjustable air suspension, and a four-wheel steering function to “crab” sideways—drive diagonally—the Hummer EV should be a blast to drive on the open road. With renowned manufacturers like Ford and Rivian, and GMC gearing up to compete in this burgeoning market, pickup trucks are the next frontier for electric automobiles.
The Hummer EV’s current engine consists of three electric motors that generate 1000 horsepower. GMC predicts a zero-to-60-mph speed of 3.0 seconds, which the firm claims is possible because of the truck’s Watts to Freedom launch control operating mode. All-wheel drive is standard.
However, GMC’s claim that this power plant can produce 11,500 lb-ft of torque is just a result of the truck’s gear ratios compounding the torque. We don’t agree with how that torque number was computed, but it should still have much pulling power. According to GMC sources, the genuine torque number will range between 1000 and 1100 lb-ft.
A 350-kilowatt fast-charging capacity on the Hummer’s 800-volt electrical design adds 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes, GMC says. The Hummer EV may be charged using a supplied adapter at home or standard public charging terminals if one does not have access to DC fast-charging stations nearby. However, charging times will be much slower.
Furthermore, there are also multiple warning flags in different hues like red, green, blue and yellow on your Hummer Dashboard to direct you if any utility software in your car detects an internal problem. Because of this, check out this dashboard tutorial for the GMC Hummer, which will explain exactly what those notification indicators signify. Additional options include operating the following lights manually or using other GMC models, such as the Hummer….
