The German automaker BMW produces and sells the BMW iX, a mid-size luxury crossover SUV that runs on battery power. At the 2018 Paris Motor Show, it was unveiled as a concept car called Vision iNext. In November 2020, it would be ready for mass production. The iX is the fourth model under the BMW I sub-brand and the company’s first purpose-built electric vehicle since the i3 from 2013.
The iX nameplate was chosen to represent the model’s spot at the top of the electric I line-up, its role in showcasing technology as it uses the latest fifth-generation BMW electric drive system, and its high level of connected and autonomous technology.
