General Motors will begin producing the Buick Encore GX in 2019. It is a subcompact crossover SUV. The Encore GX is produced by GM Korea, the same as the smaller Encore. The joint venture between SAIC and GM produces it in China.
But because it falls between the mainstream and premium SUV markets, it lacks the qualities necessary to thrive. Although Buick offers purchasers of the Encore GX two distinct turbocharged three-cylinder engines to select from—a 1.2-liter and a 1.3-liter—neither one produces particularly noteworthy performance.
